Shirley Shumard

Shirley was first involved with Bethel in 1988. She loves the Lord with all her heart, will follow him anywhere and is willing to do anything for Him. Her love for “His bride” is evident in her lifestyle and she has a strong Pastoral heart. Over the years she has served in many facets of ministry and is currently serving as Bethel’s Seniors Pastor. Shirley is on staff and oversees both the senior citizen ministries (Prime Timers) and the Timber Ridge outreach (Assisted Living).
Shirley has a large family which includes 11 grand children, all serving God. This family in addition to her church family embraced her and gave her the strength in 1992 when her husband of 31 years passed away and joined Jesus in paradise. The season of grieving and the natural process of healing that she walked through soon after fueled an already evident passion for the Lord and doing His will. In result, Shirley’s life become even more involved in ministry and has left her with such a tender connection with people who have or are currently experiencing similar trials.
She loves watching peoples responses “come alive” as she reads/teaches in God’s word, and is passionate in seeing people to a deeper understanding of Gods love for them.
