Homes of Refuge

Humboldt County’s Premier Group Home Facility

“A new life is just a step away”

Homes of Refuge, located in the beautiful redwoods of Humboldt Co. is designed to be exactly what the name suggests, a place of refuge. A place where teenagers who have had problems in the past can come and learn how and why they can change. More importantly, our Homes of Refuge currently has two facilities on the same campus enabling us to house both boys and girls ages 13-17 who are on probation. These kids come with many different problems but they all share one common denominator, they all need a stable environment, structure and a lot of love.

Homes of refuge has already received statewide recognition with Bethel Church Eureka being named an outstanding program by the Lt Governor’s office for its work with "at risk children". Many different agencies, both public and private have given support to this program. Private Foundations such as Sisters of Orange, McLean Foundation, Humboldt Area Foundation and Schulz-Kronenberg Memorial Fund of the Humboldt Area Foundation, have supported our efforts to reach teens. At the Homes of Refuge, we welcome any support we can get from our community. We realize that the problem of at-risk teens is large and as such, we recognize the need to network within our community to access as many resources as possible.

The Group Home Facility

Homes of Refuge sits on the campus of Bethel Church. Bethel has been in existence since 1955 and has a long standing tradition of working with youth in Humboldt County. Bethel Church is located in the midst of its own 7 acre parcel of land located at 2734 Hubbard Ln. Eureka, CA. 95501. The campus has a full size gymnasium with regulation basketball court, two volleyball courts and twelve classrooms.
